In order to make bolts and studs into effective fastenings,nuts are required.Nuts are generally in the form of hexagonal or square prisms.Besides cylinders and other forms are used in special applications and at particular requirements.

Hexagonal Nuts: This is the most common form of the nut used for general fastening purposes in conjunction with a hexagonal headed bolt.

Square Nut:ASquare nut is used in conjunction with a square headed boltnormally; it has many applications in electrical appliances.

Ring Nut:It is in the form of a ring provided with slots in the curved surface for a special C-spanner. These nuts are generally used in parts,one nut acting as a lock nut for the other.
